The policeman who was killed in Ajman after tackling a gang of robbers raiding his mother's home has been posthumously promoted to the rank of lieutenant, on the instructions of Sheikh Khalifa, the President of the UAE.
Saud Rashid Salim, 26, who was married with three children, was stabbed to death after chasing the gang.
Police arrested the suspects 12 hours later after Saud was able to give a description of his attackers from his hospital bed. He later died of his wounds.
Rashid Salim Khamis al Ali, the victim's father, said he is grateful for the gesture.
