ABU DHABI // The International Fund for Houbara Conservation has announced that it has hatched 53,743 houbara this year, the largest number in the group’s history.

The organisation breeds both Asian and African houbara, the two subspecies of the houbara bustard family, from its breeding centres located in the UAE, Morocco and Kazakhstan.

Ali Mubarak Al Shamsi, acting head of communications and public relations, said this was another world milestone for Abu Dhabi in captive breeding and conservation of the bird.

The organisation aims to reinstate wild houbara to healthy numbers worldwide.
