ABU DHABI // Police in Ras Al Khaimah have arrested a man who attempted to smuggle Dh1 million worth of heroin into the country by hiding 198 capsules of the drugs in his stomach.
Col Adnan Ali Al Zaabi, director of the anti-narcotics department, RAK Police, said officers received a tip-off about a man of Asian nationality who was smuggling drugs from his homeland into the UAE.
A team was formed and the suspect was tracked down and arrested.
He admitted to attempting to smuggle the drugs by hiding them in his belly. He was taken to the hospital where 198 capsules of heroin estimated at Dh1 million were removed.
The suspect was referred to public prosecution.
