Kalba Municipality made 1,782 inspections of businesses in the past three months.
The food control section carried out 1,740 inspections that resulted in seven stores being temporarily closed, 155 given warnings and 77 fined.
The veterinary section made 479 inspections resulting in 21 warnings.
Ayesha Fawszi, head of public health, said her department carried out 563 inspections resulting in one outlet being shut while warnings were issued to 102, reported Aletihad, the Arabic language sister paper of The National.
