The UAE reported 1,146 cases of Covid-19 infections on Monday.

The latest figures raised the country's tally to 143,289 since the beginning of the outbreak.

Another 668 patients were cleared of the virus, taking the tally of recoveries to 138,959.

Health officials said 85,643 tests were carried out in the past 24 hours.

Authorities said one patient died, raising the death toll to 515.

There are now 3,815 active cases of the virus across the UAE. It fell below 2,000 on Wednesday but the number went up again after new infections exceeded recoveries.

The UAE has carried out more than 14.2 million tests since the outbreak began, as part of a mass-screening strategy to limit the spread of the virus.

Globally, more than 50 million Covid-19 cases have been recorded, the Johns Hopkins University tracker showed.

The global death toll has topped 1.2 million while more than 33 million people have recovered.
