Dubai fined 11 gyms for flouting rules designed to curb the spread of Covid-19.

The latest sweep by Dubai Economy inspectors came on Sunday and breaches included failing to wear masks or adhere to physical distancing rules.

The gyms were in Hor Al Anz, Al Qusais, Al Muhaisnah and Al Murar.

Inspectors also visited markets and shopping centres across the emirate to ensure people were following the rules.

They found 921 shops and commercial establishments fully complied with the precautionary measures.

Daily case totals increased in the past few weeks but they ticked back under 1,000 on Monday.

About 11.7 million Covid-19 tests have been conducted across the country since the pandemic began.

Trials for two vaccines are also being conducted here.

Authorities cautioned that swift action would be taken against anyone flouting the rules.

People can report issues through the Dubai Consumer smartphone app, by calling 600 545555 or by visiting the consumerrights.ae website.
