FUJAIRAH // Fujairah Municipality has launched a programme to allow citizens to start home businesses, as per the directives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah.

Licensed activities include processing and preparing meals, confectionery, clothing and making incense, said Abdullah Al Hantoubi, deputy director of the municipality.

The initiative is aimed at encouraging Emirati youth and families to enter into the business sector, which can raise their standard of living and support the UAE economy, he said, according to the state news agency, Wam.

The licence is about Dh100 and appilcants are exempt from registration fees required by the Fujairah Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Applicants must be citizens residing in the emirate and 21 or older. People aged 18 to 21 can apply with the approval of their guardians.
