FUJAIRAH // Fifty-eight prisoners have been released by the Fujairah Ruler, Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, to mark Eid Al Adha.

The men released are from various countries and all have shown good conduct while serving their jail terms.

The move is to bring joy to the families of the inmates this Eid and to offer the prisoners an opportunity to start a new life.

Brig Mohammed Al Kaabi, commander-in-chief of Fujairah Police, said that he hoped the Ruler’s clemency would be a motivation for those released to begin a new and righteous life.

The Fujairah Ruler follows the President, Sheikh Khalifa, who released 442 prisoners to mark Eid, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, who released 488 prisoners and the Sharjah Ruler, Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, who released 130 inmates.
