ABU DHABI // Students at Zayed University have begun a fundraising campaign to raise Dh40,000 for Syrian women refugees.
Organised by the Office of Student Life at the university’s Abu Dhabi campus, the campaign is part of Academic Bridge Programme Action Week, in support of Sheikha Fatima’s sewing machine initiative.
The campaign at the university, which was originally founded for women but now admits men, was announced by Sheikha Lubna, Minister of State for Tolerance and President of Zayed University, during celebrations of the second Emirati Women’s Day.
Action Week, which started Sunday, will see money raised by selling baked products and various food items made by students.
