DUBAI // Female police officers have begun a campaign to get more young women reading.

The Women Police Council for Community Service at Dubai Police has launched the first phase of A Nation that reads and narrates in an attempt to boost the number of young women at secondary schools and universities reading, in line with the President’s Year of Reading and the Arab Reading Challenge, launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai.

The campaign was met with cooperation from government and private entities, particularly Dubai Police, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Community Development, Dubai Sports Council and the Dubai Club for the Disabled.

Council chair Dr Meshgan Mohammed Al Awar said the disabled were also at the heart of the campaign.
