Dubai Police said the parents, whose nationalities were not disclosed, did not notice their son riding away on his scooter as they ordered dinner at a restaurant.

“The parents were ordering dinner at the time. When they noticed he wasn’t anywhere to be seen, they informed security guards,” said Col Mubarak Al Ketbi, director of Dubai Tourist Police, at the General Department of Criminal Investigation.

“They were terrified because it was late in the evening and the place was near the beach.”
