A four-year-old boy who went missing in Dubai’s Umm Suqeim 1 neighbourhood has been reunited with his family.

Dubai Police said the parents, whose nationalities were not disclosed, did not notice their son riding away on his scooter as they ordered dinner at a restaurant.

“The parents were ordering dinner at the time. When they noticed he wasn’t anywhere to be seen, they informed security guards,” said Col Mubarak Al Ketbi, director of Dubai Tourist Police, at the General Department of Criminal Investigation.

“They were terrified because it was late in the evening and the place was near the beach.”

The boy rode away on his kick scooter and was found in Umm Suqeim 2 after a 40-minute search.

Security guards contacted police and the boy’s description was given to all patrol officers.

The boy was found three kilometres away in Umm Suqeim 2 neighbourhood, after a 40-minute search.

"He was scared, crying and calling out for his parents," Col Al Ketbi said. "He was hungry and thirsty when officers found him."
The senior officer urged parents to keep an eye on their children, especially in open areas and during night time.
