A chef convicted of groping a female member of his kitchen staff at a Dubai hotel has lost an appeal against his jail term.
The Indian man, 28, assaulted the woman in the restaurant kitchen of the hotel in Al Rashidiyah on October 12 of last year.
The victim, 25, from Palestine, reported the matter to police.
The man was subsequently arrested and charged and found guilty of sexual assault at Dubai Criminal Court in November.
“He asked me to look at orders hanging on the wall and, when I looked up, he came from behind and stuck his body to mine,” said the woman.
She said she managed to push the defendant away after he grabbed her breast.
“I immediately filed a written complaint with hotel staff before I headed to the police station and reported him,” she said.
The chef appealed to have his three-month sentence reduced, but was unsuccessful.
He will be deported once he is released from prison.
