Focal Point: Open Sesame

Staff photographer Christopher Pike captured this unusual frame while covering a new walking tour launched in Al Ain. Like a portal into another world, a man slowly, cautiously, lowers his head and steps into the past. The image is a juxtaposition of the present intersecting with the past as the Bin Biduwa Al Darmaki House, currently undergoing restoration, was opened to the public briefly for the This Old House tour.
