During the past year, Qasr Al Hosn has had the architectural equivalent of a facial peel and the result is walls that are knobbly, uneven, and grey. Mark Kyffin, the head of architecture at the Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority talks through the conservation of the 200-year-old Qasr Al Hosn Fort. By peeling back the layers of walls, architects can glean an understanding of how the fort was constructed leading to a further understanding of how life was lived in the UAE all that time ago.
