ABU DHABI // The hotel that was cleared of guests and staff after a construction site next door caught fire reopened for business on Wednesday.

The Beach Rotana Hotel closed and moved its guests to other properties on Tuesday after a fire swept through an adjacent building site in Al Zahiyah.

A spokesman for the hotel said that at noon on Wednesday it was “provided clearance by the local authorities to resume normal operation”. “All guests who were provided with alternative accommodation on Tuesday were contacted and were welcomed back to the hotel.”

The hotel management thanked the authorities for the assistance in ensuring that the hotel guests and property were protected and kept safe.

The fire broke out about 10.50am on Tuesday, injuring 13 people on the construction site. Abu Dhabi Civil Defence and police ordered the property to remain shut.

A police spokesman said the site would remain closed until investigations were complete.
