Dubai residents were treated to light rain and cloudy weather on Saturday as torrential rains lashed parts of the UAE.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) reported downpours in Masafi and Al Qurayya in Fujairah and parts of Ras Al Khaimah, while Hatta in Dubai was badly hit.

Video posted to its social media pages showed surging flood waters cutting across wadis and down roads.

By the evening rain had also been reported in Abu Dhabi.

The major cities of the west coast have so far escaped major rains this year.

The UAE is experiencing cooler conditions as a low pressure system continues to move across the region.

The weekend's weather followed a bout of heavy rain, wind and dust storms that swept across parts of the UAE on Thursday and Friday.

The NCM said the unsettled conditions are expected into next week.

More rain is forecast, along with winds and dust clouds on Sunday.

"[It will be] partly cloudy to cloudy and dusty at times, with some rainy convective clouds especially over eastern areas," the NCM said.
