Mohamad Ali Harisi

Foreign Editor
Mohamad Ali Harisi is The National's Foreign Editor, overseeing its worldwide output with a focus on the Middle East. Previously, he served as AFP’s news editor for the Gulf region and Yemen. He was also the Deputy Director. Before moving to the UAE, he was Libya’s Bureau chief, based in Tripoli, and Iraq’s Deputy Director, based in Baghdad. Since 2005, he has reported on major events across the Middle East and played a central role in leading newsrooms, coordinating coverage and directing writers and correspondents. Mohamad Ali has also conducted interviews with senior politicians in the region and beyond. He is fluent in English, French and Arabic.
