Second Summer under Patrick Dobbs provided the UAE champion trainer Doug Watson with the opening prize of the 2017 Dubai World Cup meeting – the Group 2 US$1 million (Dh3.67m) Godolphin Mile.
Second Summer in only his third local start and came with late challenge to pip German raider Ross and the American hope Sharp Azteca over the 1,600-metre distance on the dirt.
Edgard Zayas on Sharp Azteca took up the running as the field swept on to the 400m home stretch and for a moment it looked like he would go on and win, but the Freud colt got tired and finished third. Watson saddled the first three home last year.
