Congratulations to the Men in Blue for World Cup triumph
I write to you in reference to Paul Radley’s article Cricket World Cup 2019: Rohit Sharma pays tribute to daughter on Father’s Day after scoring match-winning century (June 17).
As Mr Radley rightly put it, Sharma is a fantastic and unstoppable player. His outstanding performance in the match has taken India to another level and secured his team’s seventh World Cup win against Pakistan.
India’s bowling and batting were extremely good and led our team to victory.
Whatever the result, I think that cricket depends equally on luck and dedication. Kudos to Indian skipper Virat Kholi and the Men in Blue for their win at Old Trafford.

Sheikh Mohammed is right to highlight mismanagement
I write to you in reference to Haneen Dajani’s article Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid hits out at lack of leadership in Arab world (June 16).
His words are truthful. Middle Eastern countries have so much potential but our states are often mismanaged at the very top.
Across the region, economies are in woe and people are suffering as a result of incompetency.

There is only room for tolerance, not war, in the Gulf
I write to you in reference to your article No mistake: Iran behind Gulf attacks but US not looking for war, says Mike Pompeo (June 16).
I do not understand why we, as neighbours in the Middle East, keep testing each other’s nerves. Have we not learned anything from the Iraq-Iran war during the 1980s? The invasion of Iraq? The wars going on in Yemen and Syria?
The UAE has long thrived because the country has been able to manage its natural resources while maintaining values of tolerance in a region filled with divisions. There is no place for another war in the Gulf. I truly hope that Iran and the US will come to their senses and work together towards peace and stability in the region, not war and horror.

A real star: it is rare for public figures to act humanely
I write to you in reference to your article Dubai radio DJ in dramatic fire rescue (June 16)
I think Mr Fade deserves to be thanked for his heroic gesture. It has become rare for public figures to use social media to spread kindness, positivity and encourage others to uphold humane values.

Netflix’s Jinn is a great advertisement for Jordan
I write to you in reference to Taylor Luck’s article Netflix’s Jinn portrays Jordan as country of loose morals, say Jordanians (June 16). I have to disagree with this statement. I am watching the series right now and I think it is really good entertainment. Petra is beautifully shot and the show only made me want to visit lovely Jordan.
