Over 1,400 tons of waste are collected daily from the streets of Sana'a with over five million people, according to statistics by the local cleanup service in the Yemeni capital. More poor people collect plastic materials from the streets and waste dumps across the major cities of Yemen, then sell them to junkyards where being sorted. The yard owners sell the plastic sorted materials to factories for recycling. The collectors of recyclables often earn between 1000 and 1500 Yemeni rial a day (between 1. 92 and 2. 88 euro).
