A farmer picks cotton in Kafr El Sheikh governorate. This year production increased by 30 percent and 238,000 acres were planted compared to 180,000 last year.
A total of 1.5 million kantar of cotton (67.5m kilograms) was collected.

According to Hisham Massad, Director of the Cotton Research Institute of Egypt, Kafr El Sheikh is the biggest cotton producer in Egypt.
