As we enter week three of lockdown, many people might feel their physical fitness starting to drop. Those at-home workout videos or daily promise to climb the stairs to your apartment may be starting to falter, as the stagnant nature of life in self-isolation takes over.

But as the UAE faces further weeks at home along with the rest of the world, it's more important than ever to keep ourselves moving, even if it is just a little a day. Michael Haddin, owner of Haddins Fitness at Abu Dhabi's Zayed Sport City, has shared his three foolproof movements to give yourself a quick and easy full body workout, which requires little to no equipment.

“We want to bring you some fitness activities and challenges that you can do at home by yourself with what you have in the home,” he says.

Haddins has shared the three movements he always uses when he is short on time with The National readers, and is challenging them to try it for themselves. You can follow along with the video above.

The movements

  1. Ground to overheads x 10: pick an everyday item you have lying around at home – a ball, a water bottle, a child – and tap it to the floor before lifting it above your head, fully extending your arms. Make sure to keep your back straight throughout the movement.
  2. Burpees x 5: bending down, jump your legs backwards and touch your chest to the floor, before pushing up and jumping your legs back into your chest. Finishing the movement by springing up, raising your arms above your head.
  3. High knees x 100: running on the spot, bringing your knees as high as possible, keeping your chest up and back straight. You can put your hands out to tap, to make sure you keep your knees up throughout.

Try and repeat the sequence for 10 rounds, although, it can be dropped down to five if needed.
