Concert-goers at Dubai Opera will soon be able to enjoy a spot of pre-show dining, with an on-site restaurant set to open this summer.
The 350-capacity eatery will be perched on the iconic building’s roof, offering indoors and al fresco dining, and is expected to open in the next three months, according to chief executive Jasper Hope.
The new venture’s name is yet to be revealed, but much like the venue’s eclectic programming, the kitchen will serve a wide variety of cuisine to appal to the Opera’s diverse audience.
"There's things I want to fix [about Dubai Opera], and I can't wait for the experience to be enhanced by the option to have dinner in our building," said Hope, who broke the news in an exclusive interview with The National.
“For a lot of people, myself included, a great night out and a wonderful show includes having dinner with the people or person you’re going with – a meal and a night of music goes hand in hand.
“We know people enjoy what we have been offering, but we need to add this on top.”
The Dubai Opera turned six months old this week, and will celebrate its 100th show on March 11 with a performance of La Bohème, the closing of six nights from the visiting Welsh National Opera.
Check Arts&Life next week for Hope's look back at the venue's early successes and plans for the future.
