At least two craftsmen work for more than 15 hours to manually weave a maawaz.
Maawaz is a traditional Yemeni kind of wrap-around-one-piece fabric, measuring about a metre and covering the body from the hips to the ankles or slightly higher.
It has been worn by Yemeni men for generations, either by itself or kept in place with a belt.
The garment is most popular in coastal Yemeni regions that have hotter weather, especially in the provinces of Hodeidah, Taiz, Aden and Hadramout.
The price of a maawaz ranges between 10,000 Yemeni rials ($39 at official rate) for garments of lower quality and 65,000 rial for high-end options.
