Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) has reduced the time taken to approve new connections for industrial usage of up to 150 kilowatt hours (kWh) as part of an ongoing scheme.

The authority said Friday that it had reduced the process for contractors and consultants to a single step, with the approval set to take only seven days from ten days previously, as part of its Al Namoos scheme.

Charges for new connections for commercial and industrial customers had also been waived.

Fees for new connections are deferred until after the first monthly bill, Dewa managing director and chief executive Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer said in a statement.

Dewa launched Al Namoos in 2015 to provide consultants and contractors with electricity connections of up to 150kW in ten days. The scheme was later modified in 2016 to take only eight days.
