Eva Longoria, the Desperate Housewives star who recently visited Dubai for the Global Gift Gala fundraiser, a joint initiative by Dubai Cares, the Eva Longoria Foundation and Sunrise K Foundation, is returning to the small screen.

The petite actress will appear in a new comedy series on NBC about a popular Spanish telenovela. In Telenovela, Longoria will play the star Ana Maria, who strives to stay on top amid all the drama and craziness behind the scenes.

NBC has ordered 13 episodes of the half-hour series, of which Longoria is also executive producer. Chrissy Pietrosh and Jessica Goldstein from Cougar Town will serve as writers and co-executive producers.

NBC has had discussions with sister network Telemundo about doing short segments in Spanish that would be used to promote the NBC series to Spanish-speaking audiences.
