At home in Connecticut with a full day ahead to daydream, plan and find clarity – that is the most important thing.

I am inspired by all women, really, but if you are looking for a celebrity, I would say Marion Cotillard.

What is your biggest failing?

I try to focus on the positive, so even my mistakes and failures have become lessons.

What does your dream home look like?

My own home, Cloudwalk. I bought it for myself as a 27th birthday present. It is home to me and my family.

What is your favourite item in your wardrobe right now?

My Secret Agent handbag. It is a sleek tote by day and a sexy clutch for after dark.

If you had a theme song, what would it be?

Always a Woman!

Are you a collector? If so, what do you collect?

I have collected art since my 20s. My spring 2016 collection is called Fortuna, and it is inspired by a beautiful Pre-Raphaelite painting of the Goddess of Luck – the first painting I bought.

What is your favourite way to relax?

Hiking or sailing with my family.

What is your favourite city in the world?

New York … it has so much energy and there is always a sense that anything can happen.

What is your next holiday destination?

The west coast of Scotland.

What are your top three travel essentials?

iPad, sunglasses and a dress that doesn’t wrinkle.

What are your go-to beauty products?

Tracie Martyn firming serum, Natura Bissé The Cure, YSL Touche Éclat and mascara, and Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream.

What is the best book you have read?

Anything by Stefan Zweig.

What, in your opinion, is the most overrated luxury?

Comfort. I like to be outside of my comfort zone and to explore.

If you could offer your 20-year-old self one piece of advice, what would it be?

Be true to yourself and go for it!
