One star

David Guetta has finally sated the appetite of all those people who go to the sort of establishments where they play David Guetta on continuous loop, with his long-awaited sixth studio album.

He's not been quiet in the years since 2011's Nothing but the Beat. The intervening period has found him embroiled in a "this chap may play pre-recorded sets" DJ scandal, threatening legal action over the claim he suffers from chorophobia (the fear of dancing), and becoming one of commercial dance music's biggest stars at the same time.

So how does album No 6 pan out? Exactly as you'd expect. It begins with some faux-classical adagios to please the trance fans, attempts credibility by enlisting Ms Dynamite for a reggae-sampling track, throws soaring vocals in, and obviously features the summer's most-overplayed song, Lovers on the Sun.

None of this will stop David Guetta packing out du Arena on the next of what seem like his fortnightly visits. If you like this kind of thing, you’ll doubtless like it. If you don’t, you won’t be converted.
