Earlier in the month, President Ghani's government had announced a temporary ceasefire, starting on Jun. 12, to last until the end of the festival. The Taliban had followed suit a few days later and announced a three-day partial ceasefire during the festival. Muslims around the world are celebrating Eid al-Fitr, the three day festival marking the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. In most countries it is observed on 15th of June while others will observe it on the 16th of June depending on the lunar calendar. Eid al-Fitr is one of the two major holidays in Islam.  EPA/STRINGER
