Motorists in Dubai are advised to steer clear of Sheikh Zayed Road on Friday morning because it will be closed to traffic to accommodate the Dubai Ride.

Several roads in the emirate will be transformed into a cycling track from 4am until 8am.

The Roads and Transport Authority is asking motorists to use alternative routes.

RTA tweeted a list of the roads that will be used for the event and alternative routes that motorists can use.

Dubai Ride is a part of The Dubai Fitness Challenge, which is now in its fourth year.

The challenge is an event led by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, the Crown Prince of Dubai. It encourages residents to take part in 30 minutes of physical activity a day for 30 days.

This year, the event runs until November 28 and offers more than 2,000 free fitness sessions. These sessions are being held in person and online owing to restrictions imposed because of the pandemic.
