Training courses begin in Dubai for parents of special-needs children

A training course for the parents of children with special needs will begin on Saturday.

The 12-week programme, organised by Al Jalila Foundation, will be held at the office of the British University in Dubai, in Academic City.

The training scheme, which will run courses for four years, aims to educate 400 mothers and fathers of various nationalities on how to best deal with their childrens’ needs.

The programme is being run in collaboration with the university.

Among the skills being taught are the appropriate behaviours that parents should adopt to empower their youngsters.

The course is part of Al Jalila’s Ta’alouf programme and the first batch of 55 parents to take part began their training at the beginning of the month.

Al Jalila Foundation, established by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, is a global philanthropic organisation whose mission is to focus on supporting medical education and research.

The programme was created after demand from parents with special-needs children.
