A journalist who risked his life documenting the lives of women living under Taliban rule will be among the speakers at Bold Talks in Dubai on Saturday. As the series enters its third edition, organisers have promised this year’s event will be just as empowering to women as the previous two. Najibulah Quraishi, an award-winning Afghan journalist and filmmaker, will be one of many in this year’s line-up discussing his powerful documentary on the Afghan women and the status of girls’ education in Taliban-controlled areas. A cancer survivor, Ghadeer Kunna, will also take part in the talks by recounting her battle with the disease. Others scheduled to participate include Tiffany Kelly, who will discuss the importance of gender balance, and Denis Liam Murphy, who will talk about her world travels and helping women overcome self-limiting beliefs and release their fears. “When you invest in a woman, change happens,” said Tamer Nahas, Bold Talks managing director and found. “Because when a woman thrives, a family thrives, a community prospers, and an entire nation creates the foundations for peace and prosperity.” Participants can also enjoy a London West End play Rest Upon the Wind. The talks will be held at the Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre. Tickets are Dh250 and can be purchased at the entrance or online.
