Ras Al Khaimah is to attempt to set a second world record with its New Year’s Eve firework display. The emirate is aiming to break the record for the ‘longest straight-line fireworks display’ tonight for 12 minutes. It follows last year's effort, when it managed to claim the record for 'largest aerial firework shell'. The record for the longest firework display stands is 11.83 kilometres. According to the Guinness World Records, the record is for the distance is measured in a straight line from the first fireworks station to the last, with every individual station no more than 2km apart and using at least 300 kilograms of fireworks in each station. Abdulla Al Abdouli, managing director of Marjan, said: “We made sure that this year we offer exciting family activities that will delight all, in the run-up to the amazing fireworks display. The event will position the Emirate as the must-visit destination this season.
