DUBAI // Police have deployed both traffic and foot patrols to ensure that residents face minimal disruption as the four-day Dubai Tour event starts on Wednesday.

Col Jamal Mohammed Al Bannai, acting director of Dubai Police’s traffic directorate, said officers were following a detailed traffic plan and that the first leg of the cycling tour passed without any issues.

He said patrols have been coordinating traffic in city roads and motorways in a manner that has ensured as smooth a flow of traffic as possible and ensured road safety.

Lt Col Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, director of events and parades department and chairman of the traffic committee, said the comprehensive traffic plan covered entry and exit points and streets around the event venue, in addition to Sheikh Zayed Road and Jumeirah Road.

He said about 95 traffic officers were working on the Dubai Tour.
