DUBAI // A maid who was reported to police by her sponsor for working as a prostitute will spend three months in jail.
Dubai Criminal Court convicted Indonesian Y J, 33, of prostitution, while Pakistani driver, K A, 35, and the maid were convicted of having consensual sex in return for cash.
K A was also sentenced to three months in jail.
The pair denied charges against them in court last January. The maid’s Emirati sponsor S A, 47, said that on November 11 last year, an Asian man called his wife at about 11pm.
“I answered and he started talking about our maid, saying that she offers men sex in return for money,” said S A, adding that the caller told him that Y J was with a number of men in a car having sex for money.
The man said he checked her room but did not find her.
“About 20 minutes later, she returned home,” S A said.
The Emirati said he questioned Y J about her whereabouts that night.
“She told me she was with a number of men, then confessed she had been selling herself in return for Dh200 from each customer and that she had brought customers into my house without my knowledge before,” said S A, who then called police.
