Icy challenge for charity

DUBAI // The Ice Warrior Challenge, a sub-zero obstacle course, will take place next month in an attempt to raise money for the Dubai Centre for Special Needs.
The endurance challenge, on November 1 at Ski Dubai in the Mall of the Emirates, will feature competitors battling it out in temperatures of -2°C.
Obstacles will include cargo nets, a zorb-ball maze, monkey-bar swing, car climb, air bags, tyre course and black-run climb.
Omar El Banna, marketing and sales director at Majid Al Futtaim Leisure and Entertainment, said: "Now in its fourth edition, Ice Warrior IV has grown in popularity and we expect it to continue to be a favourite among those who wish to test their stamina and determination, as well as people who just want to try a new experience.
"Nowhere other than Ski Dubai will you be able to push your own limits to see what you're made of under such unique circumstances and the fact that we're raising donations for charity in the process, it is a win-win situation for all."
Registration costs Dh250 and all proceeds go to charity. The race winner will get an all-expenses paid trip to Avoriaz ski resort in the Portes du Soleil area of France.
Participants must be 15 or older, and registration - at www.premiermarathons.com - closes on October 29.
