Relatives of a man who was beaten to death in a bootlegging brawl dropped their right to vengeance yesterday and asked for blood money.
During an earlier hearing, the relatives asked for the death sentence and Dh200,000 blood money.
The criminal court explained they had to choose one of the two options and gave them until yesterday to decide. Of the 17 men - 16 Indians and one Pakistani - four are accused of beating the man, a Pakistani, to death, while the others face bootlegging charges.
The case was adjourned.
