Six chilly cities that will be warmer than parts of the UAE on Tuesday

Temperatures recorded in Al Ain have plunged to minus 5°C for several days

STOCKHOLM: 2°C. The capital of Sweden is known for its icy temperatures and short winter days. But on Tuesday, at 4am, the temperature will be 2°C - at least 7°C higher than in Raknah, Al Ain. Alamy

VANCOUVER: 8°C. Canadian cities are routinely covered in metres of snow throughout the winter, with the first frost reported as early as October or November. At 4am in Vancouver, a city known for hosting dozens of films and TV series, the weather will be rainy and the temperature 8°C.

It has been a cold winter across much of the UAE. Sales of coats have gone up and ice has been reported in more remote areas of the country, such as in Raknah, Al Ain, after temperatures plunged to minus 5°C.

Another frosty night is expected on Monday and into Tuesday morning.

Elsewhere in the country, Tuesday's forecast indicates that the mercury will drop to 6°C, although highs of 25°C are also expected.
