After shooting this photo staff photographer Sarah Dea posted it online with the brief statement, ‘This is actually a colour photo.’ I was intrigued to look at the file up close because it is, as she says, a full colour photo. However, the combination of extremely contrasty lighting, subjects silhouetted against the reflected light and the perspective compression of a 200mm lens makes this very much just black and white and thus resembling perhaps a graphic illustration rather than a photo.
