The coronavirus pandemic has caused chaos to the global sporting calendar, with the vast majority of leagues, tournaments, events, and competitions suspended indefinitely.

While, in the grander scheme of the situation, the cancellation of sports events is a trivial matter compared to health and safety, many people's livelihoods have been placed at risk as part-time and hourly-contract workers miss out on vital shifts.

With the NBA and other American sports leagues in lockdown, athletes, owners, and organisations have been donating to various efforts to ease the financial burden brought on by the cancellation of events in response to the coronavirus outbreak.

Click or swipe through the photo gallery above to see which sports stars have started donation efforts and the amount of money they have pledged.
