Glorious Goodwood // The Fugue proved that her running in the Oaks at Epsom was all wrong with a dramatic victory in the Group One Nassau Stakes on Saturday.
Richard Hughes timed his ride to perfection on the three-year-old filly, trained by John Gosden, and motored past long-time leader Timepiece in the final furlong to win by a length.
Was, her conqueror at Epsom in June, was third while Sheikh Ahmed Bin Rashid's Nahrain was last of the eight runners.
Hughes had picked up the ride after William Buick had decided to partner Izzi Top, also trained by Gosden, who was sixth.
As The Fugue came past her stablemate, she appeared to drop her shoulder, which pushed Izzi Top into Was, ending her chance.
Hughes was later crowned the top jockey of the five-day meeting, ahead of Tom Queally.
Buick was third.
"I didn't mean to and I had both hands on the reins so it wasn't intentional," Hughes said. "I was only two lengths off so I was never in danger of getting too far back. I wouldn't let my filly go and she loved that.
"The more I held her back the more I knew she was going to really go. Fillies are like that a bit."
The Fugue will now head for the Yorkshire Oaks, sponsored by Darley, at York Racecourse on August 23 and then all being well she will be freshened up to take on the best in America at the Breeders' Cup at Santa Anita in November.
"If ever a filly deserved a Group One then it was her," Gosden, who was winning his sixth Group 1 of the season, said. "She is a very good filly and has been unlucky.
"William had to pick Izzi Top as she was the Group One winner but The Fugue has shown her class today."
The Fugue needs good ground or better to perform at her peak and Gosden revealed that the filly's participation hinged on him walking the course before the contest.
"I was satisfied having walked the track and her run was in doubt until around 20 minutes before the race," Gosden said.
In the longer term the filly's liking for firm ground means that participation in the Dubai Sheema Classic next season at Meydan Racecourse has taken a step closer.
The victory confirmed that Gosden remains on course to take the fight for the British trainers' title with Aidan O'Brien down to the wire.

"If you've got them, you can cook basically anything from that base," says Theasby. "These ingredients are so prevalent in every world cuisine and if you've got them in your cupboard, then you know you've got the foundation of a really nice meal."

Whether rice, quinoa, pasta or buckwheat, Firth advises always having a stock of your favourite grains in the cupboard. "That you, you have an instant meal and all you have to do is just chuck a bit of veg in."

A little about CVRL
Founded in 1985 by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, the Central Veterinary Research Laboratory (CVRL) is a government diagnostic centre that provides testing and research facilities to the UAE and neighbouring countries.
One of its main goals is to provide permanent treatment solutions for veterinary related diseases.

Types of bank fraud
1) Phishing
Fraudsters send an unsolicited email that appears to be from a financial institution or online retailer. The hoax email requests that you provide sensitive information, often by clicking on to a link leading to a fake website.
2) Smishing
The SMS equivalent of phishing. Fraudsters falsify the telephone number through “text spoofing,” so that it appears to be a genuine text from the bank.
3) Vishing
The telephone equivalent of phishing and smishing. Fraudsters may pose as bank staff, police or government officials. They may persuade the consumer to transfer money or divulge personal information.
4) SIM swap
Fraudsters duplicate the SIM of your mobile number without your knowledge or authorisation, allowing them to conduct financial transactions with your bank.
5) Identity theft
Someone illegally obtains your confidential information, through various ways, such as theft of your wallet, bank and utility bill statements, computer intrusion and social networks.
6) Prize scams
Fraudsters claiming to be authorised representatives from well-known organisations (such as Etisalat, du, Dubai Shopping Festival, Expo2020, Lulu Hypermarket etc) contact victims to tell them they have won a cash prize and request them to share confidential banking details to transfer the prize money.
Iran's dirty tricks to dodge sanctions
There’s increased scrutiny on the tricks being used to keep commodities flowing to and from blacklisted countries. Here’s a description of how some work.
1 Going Dark
A common method to transport Iranian oil with stealth is to turn off the Automatic Identification System, an electronic device that pinpoints a ship’s location. Known as going dark, a vessel flicks the switch before berthing and typically reappears days later, masking the location of its load or discharge port.
2. Ship-to-Ship Transfers
A first vessel will take its clandestine cargo away from the country in question before transferring it to a waiting ship, all of this happening out of sight. The vessels will then sail in different directions. For about a third of Iranian exports, more than one tanker typically handles a load before it’s delivered to its final destination, analysts say.
3. Fake Destinations
Signaling the wrong destination to load or unload is another technique. Ships that intend to take cargo from Iran may indicate their loading ports in sanction-free places like Iraq. Ships can keep changing their destinations and end up not berthing at any of them.
4. Rebranded Barrels
Iranian barrels can also be rebranded as oil from a nation free from sanctions such as Iraq. The countries share fields along their border and the crude has similar characteristics. Oil from these deposits can be trucked out to another port and documents forged to hide Iran as the origin.
