Former Chelsea striker Adrian Mutu joins Al Wahda as coach

Former Romanian striker Adrian Mutu has joined Arabian Gulf League side Al Wahda, the club has announced in a statement.

Mutu, who has played for such European clubs as Chelsea, Juventus and Inter Milan, has been hired to take charge of the Abu Dhabi-based club's reserve team.

“Al Wahda football club announce the contract with the Romanian coach Adrian Mutu with the 39-year-old to take over the training of the reserve team,” a club statement said.

“Mutu is a great addition to the team. His football record includes many team achievements and numbers. He has already represented the Romanian team and a number of European clubs as a football player.”

Mutu, who has scored 160 goals in 439 club appearances, also played for Romania 77 times during a 13-year period starting in 2000. He scored 25 goals for his national team.
