Comic books fans from around the world are descending on California this weekend as the San Diego Comic-Con gets underway.

The event is one of the largest Comic-Cons in the world, drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. This year marks the 50th anniversary for the SDCC, and the event celebrated the milestone with a special guest appearance from Tom Cruise, who dropped the trailer for the new Top Gun: Maverick film, due out in 2020.

SDCC 2019 will be hosting a number of panels across the weekend, with talks from stars of The Walking Dead, Rick and Morty and The Witcher.

As has become tradition at Comic-Con events, many people have been attending in their best cosplay outfits, and this year they really have pulled out the stops.
