Ford’s iconic “pony” car, the Mustang, has been out in force in the UAE in the past few days ahead of appearing at the Dubai International Motor Show kicking off on November 14.

See our video below for the lowdown on the new 2018 model at a special launch at Dubai’s Alserkal Avenue, where the Mustang rubbed shoulders with two other revamped Fords: the latest Expedition SUV and F-150 truck.

The flagship 5.0-litre V8 GT variant of the updated ‘Stang has had its power upped to a meaty 460hp and 570Nm of torque, while its fastback lines have been drawn closer to the chunkier rear quarters of a few years ago, aided by a new-shape spoiler. Inside, it has borrowed the instrument cluster from Ford’s fabulous GT.

Meanwhile, in Port Rashid, there was a special gathering of more than 500 members of Mustang owners’ clubs from across the region and their muscle cars, spanning the famous model’s half-century-plus history.

A 1965 Mustang convertible was the star of the show, after it was revealed from inside a six-metre-long shipping container, joined by a 2018 model in a new paint shade dubbed “orange fury”.
