Headscarves by Halima Aden: model turns designer in new collaboration

The hijabi model will launch her collection, created in partnership with modestwear platform Modanisa, at Istanbul Modest Fashion Week

The Halima Aden x Modanisa headscarf collection will launch in April 

American-Somali model Halima Aden has collaborated with e-tailer Modanisa on a collection of headscarves. The 27-piece capsule marks the first time Aden has flexed her design muscles, and the scarves will launch at Istanbul Modest Fashion Week (IMFW), which is on April 20 and 21.

Scheduled to kick off a month after Dubai Modest Fashion Week, IMFW will deliver a jam-packed weekend of runway shows, panel discussions and a pop-up retail market in the heart of Istanbul at Zorlu Centre. In fact, Aden walked for Turkish designer Rasit Bagzibagli at the first Dubai Modest Fashion Week in 2017, which was sponsored by Modanisa.

In addition to Aden’s much-anticipated design debut in the Turkish city, this year’s event will feature Dubai fashion designer Rabia Zargarpur’s collection of sustainable, organic garments, designed in collaboration with Modanisa.

Aligning with the Turkish platform, which is well-known among the modest-fashion community and receives approximately 16 million visits a month, is an invaluable opportunity for designers looking to gain access to modestwear customers around the world.

Aden, too, has a massive fan following, as well as being known for her stylish hijabs and turbans, which range from colourful prints to chic and even sporty black.

So will her headscarves come in flashy leopard patterns, lace-adorned pastels or jewel-toned hues? We’ll just have to wait and see.
