Living in the UAE means that one is never too far from a sandy shore or pristine beach. However, as those frequently hitting the beach already know, there’s nothing more annoying than having sand stuck to your skin as you prepare to leave. Not only do those stubborn particles feel uncomfortable, they also manage to disperse throughout the car and your house, making clean-up duty all the more infuriating. This is probably why one mother’s genius solution to the problem is going viral on TikTok. California resident Stephanie Scheff posted a video in May, and, with people in the US now taking advantage of the summer weather, it’s slowly picking up steam now. The solution is simple: dust talcum powder on to the skin. “Mummy hack, always have baby powder in the car for beach trips ... Sprinkle it on the area that has the sand and it comes right off,” Scheff says in the video, demonstrating by removing sand from her child’s foot in seconds. “Look no more sand!” she says. “And it smells good.” One comment says it is because baby powder absorbs the moisture in the sand that makes the particles stick. Yet another says that cornstarch can be used as an alternative for those who do not want to use talcum powder. The video has racked up more than 261,000 views since it was posted in May, demonstrating just how many people needed this simple hack. “Screen recording this for when I have kids in 10 years,” one comment read.
