Imagine opening your PO box to find a stack of handwritten letters (who sends letters anymore?). Imagine reading on to discover they were all messages of encouragement and support, signed by names you don’t recognise. Imagine being told you rock by a whole bunch of strangers.

This bewilderingly unlikely situation is one that The Goodwill Tribe knowingly engineer. Described as a “kindness initiative”, big-hearted volunteers get together to write letters of niceness to a pre-determined target, singled out for being in need of emotional support.

The messages are penned collectively in special Letters of Love gatherings.

If you’re interested in contributing, the next one takes place at Pantry café in Dubai’s Business Bay’s branch on October 31, from 4pm-6pm. Pretty coloured paper and pens are provided.

To mark breast cancer awareness month, the letter requests at this session are for people who have been affected by breast cancer in their lives.

The initiative is hosted by social enterprise Injoy Giving. See injoygiving.com for more information.
