The Lost Boys director, Joel Schumacher, has just announced the plot of his next film, in which the "ghost" of the singer Barry White will teach a teenager how to be a hit with the ladies. Here are five other movies that feature a real-life icon in fictitious circumstances.

Take Five... Shakespeare in Love (1998) This award-winning film, starring Joseph Fiennes, gives a fictional account of the events that took place in Shakespeare's life while he was writing Romeo and Juliet. The film gave its leading lady, Gwyneth Paltrow, her one and only Best Actress Oscar.

Take Four... Me and Orson Welles (2009) Starring the teenage heart-throb, Zac Efron, as an actor hired to take part in a staging of Julius Caesar, directed by Orson Welles. Christian McKay took on the role of Welles, having already portrayed the director in a one-man show titled Rosebud: The Lives Of Orson Welles.

TakeThree... Ever After: A Cinderella Story (1998) This heartwarming rom-com plays on the classic children's story, Cinderella and stars Drew Barrymore and Dougray Scott. The famed Italian artist and inventor, Leonardo Da Vinci, appears in a supporting role (played by Patrick Godfrey).

Take Two... Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989) Travelling through time in an old phone booth, in an effort to change the future, Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves pick up several passengers -Bonaparte, Freud, Beethoven, Genghis Khan, Joan of Arc, Abraham Lincoln, Billy the Kid and Socrates.

Take One... Night at the Museum (2006) Starring Ben Stiller as a night watchman, this worldwide box-office smash sees the exhibits in New York's American Museum of Natural History come alive at night - courtesy of some ancient Egyptian magic. Theodore Roosevelt (Robin Williams) and Christopher Columbus (Pierfrancesco Favino) are among those who spring to life.
