Our interview with Brazilian bossa nova legend Sergio Mendes on March 19 has been a big hit – not least with the musical maestro himself, who got a big kick out of seeing our Arts & Life cover feature on him.
Our reporter Saeed Saeed had a strange feeling of déjà vu when he snapped this photo of Mendes holding the cover – as the musician was wearing the exact same outfit he had worn in our cover shot.
Mendes had been in the capital for four days already ahead of his performance on Friday, March 20 at Emirates Palace.
“I am genuinely excited to be here in Abu Dhabi,” he said.
“I love playing to new audiences and exploring the culture. To be able to do this is a part of the magic of life for me.”
