The shooting of Bollywood action drama Dishoom in Abu Dhabi might be delayed now that one of its main stars, John Abraham, has injured his knee.
Abraham was reportedly due to arrive in Abu Dhabi on October 24 for a five-week shoot. As revealed by The National earlier this month, the cast, including Varun Dhawan and Jacqueline Fernandez, are scheduled to film at 40 locations around the city, including the Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi hotel.
Abraham met with an accident while filming Force 2 in Budapest, and is now recovering in a hospital in Mumbai. Force 2's producer, Vipul Shah, told the Mumbai Mirror that Abraham damaged his knee during a scene in which he had to break a door. Blood clots that had developed as a result of the injury have now been removed.
Shah added that Abraham was advised to put his feet up and rest for three days, but insisted on carrying on with the shooting: “We commenced filming, but it just made the injury worse. We had to rush him to hospital again, where a minor surgery was conducted on his knee.”
Abraham was asked about his injury from his hospital bed by diehard fan Queen V, who blogged the conversation on her site The Queen's Raft (it is linked to Abraham's official website.)
When asked whether the Dishoom shoot has now been postponed, Abraham replied: "Schedules interchanged."
His Dishoom co-stars have been silent on the issue so far.
Shah said: “John is a strong, fit man, I am not aware of the exact line of treatment, but the doctors have advised him to rest for another two to three weeks, maybe even more.”
Abraham wrote on his Facebook page: “Thank you for all the well wishes! Getting better every day and will be back to the set soon hopefully! Thank you to the amazing doctors (Maniar) and nurses!”
Dishoom is directed by Rohit Dhawan, brother of lead star Varun. Actor Akshaye Khanna will reportedly have a cameo in the film.
